Notes:
There were two Anna Barthels born in Bütthard at about the same time: Anna *22.02.1604, sixth of seven children of Kaspar Barthel, from Frickenhausen, Vogt in Bütthard and his wife Margaretha Rolfört from Messelhausen; and Anna *13.04.1605, daughter of Vitus Barthel and his wife Margaretha Grünenwald. The latter is more likely, as Margaretha Grünenwald died when Anna was less than nine years old. Although Vitus remarried, it was perhaps as late as 1614, meaning that Anna may not have regarded her step-mother well, and this may be correlated with Anna later having a child before marriage. This is of course speculation, however.
