Notes:
Or Reys, Reiss, Reiß. Butcher, innkeeper, and, in 1697, Bürgermeister in Schifferstadt. He is termed a "Hospitis ad bovem in Schifferstatt" according to the Harthausen entry for his son's marriage. This is probably the "Wirtschaft der Rote Ochsen" mentioned in 1685. His house, built in 1703, still stands in Schifferstadt at Burgstraße 14 (now part of the Hotel Salischer Hof), and carries the sign of a butcher's knife and an ox. His baroque gravecross, carrying his death date, was built into the southern wall of the new cemetery in 1822.

GROH2 says his birthdate is 1666±6. SCHIFFE gives his death date as 18.08.1728, but that burial record was for a child of one and a half years of age.
