Farmer and cattle feeder. He finished high school. Oscar and Lydia lived the first five years after marriage one mile south of North Loup, Nebraska. On 2 Dec 1935 they moved to the new farm, which he had bought from his father, two miles north of Grand Island. On 16 Jan 1964 they moved to Grand Island. He was president of the National Livestock Feeders Association, city councilman for 13 years, then mayor of Grand Island, Nebraska. He also served as president of the National Meat Board, Fonner Park Race Track, and Memorial Hospital Board. He was president of the Trinity Lutheran Church congregation, the church elders, and education and building committees. Oscar died suddenly at age 85 of an apparent heart attack.
