Windmiller in Steinhude. The Steinhude windmill, a Bockwindmühle, was erected in 1670 by the town, or rather transported from the Braunschweig area, portions dragged across the frozen Steinhuder Meer. It burned down in 1911
after being struck by lightning. (It was then replaced by an Erdholländer, named the Paula-Mühle, with a few parts retained from the original.) He first appeared in the Steinhude church records as a windmiller in Steinhude in
1672, and last so in 1691. In 1694/1695 he and his servants helped rebuild the Großenheidorn chapel roof, receiving 4 Taler 18 Groschen for their labors. He served as a baptismal sponsor for his grandson Johan Jörg Holste in
Altenhagen in 1697.
